Bryan is a founding member of the RPM team and an expert on the criminal justice system. He is the founding instructor for the UCLA Big Data for Justice Institute and lectures on a range of policy topics. He has worked on projects with the U.S. Department of Justice, American Civil Liberties Union, Children’s Defense Fund and National Center for Youth Law. Bryan is also the Policy Director for the Million Dollar Hoods Project and the Policy Advisor to the UCLA Ralph Bunche Center. Bryan have given expert testimony before the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, and speaks frequently on issues of social justice. Recently, he has served as a Bohnett Policy Associate in Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Economic Opportunity, where he authored the final report for the Blue Ribbon Commission on Employment Equity and helped to address the complex needs of the city’s reentry population. Bryan received bachelor degrees in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Arizona, and a Masters in Public Policy at UCLA. He sees criminal justice systems for what they could be—and keeps the research relevant to how it will be heard and acted upon by citizens and representatives alike.
